Nursecom's Courses and WorkshopsNursecom offers several classroom courses and workshops for critical care professionals and educators. While Nursecom does occasionally contract its courses directly to various organizations, most courses and workshops are offered through Global Medical Services Ltd. The Dynamic Trainer Workshop and the Standard First Aid courses are also offered through Healthpoint Institute Inc. This 1-day intensive hands-on workshop serves as an excellent introduction to ECG interpretation for novices and as a refreshing review for experienced providers. The Six Second ECG employs a quick and simple system to rapidly interpret static and dynamic ECG's. Exercises and discussions foster an understanding of the cardiac system and the significance of various ECG's with regards to cardiac output. A pre-reading package (The Six Second ECG Guidebook) and interactive learning software are provided to each participant. Course objectives include the ability to identify ECG's in 6 seconds or less and understand the significance of each rhythm. Electrocardiogram interpretation is a vital core skill for all health care providers in critical care settings. back to the top The 12 Lead ECG 1 day workshop is a comprehensive introduction to the 12 lead ECG. It is a logical next step from the Six Second ECG Workshop. This workshop springboards from the content addressed in the Six Second ECG Workshop, quickly moving into the 12+ lead views, and the application of the 12 lead ECG to assess for cardiac ischemia, myocardial infarctions, chamber hypertrophies, bundle branch blocks, and electrolyte imbalances. A pre-reading package (The Six Second ECG Guidebook) and interactive learning software are provided to each participant. Practice exercises reinforce the 12 lead ECG skills and methods throughout the day. back to the top This dynamic, hands-on course developed by the American Heart Association takes place over 2 days. Intended for physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics, the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider course builds skills to manage various cardiac events (i.e. cardiac arrest, unstable tachycardias, unstable bradycardias, acute coronary syndromes, stable tachycardias, atrial fibrillation, and pulseless electrical activity). back to the top This dynamic, hands-on course developed by the American Heart Association takes place over 1 day. Intended for health professionals who have completed an ACLS Provider course, the ACLS recertification course reviews and evaluates skills necessary in managing various cardiac events (i.e. cardiac arrest, unstable tachycardias, unstable bradycardias, acute coronary syndromes, stable tachycardias, atrial fibrillation, and pulseless electrical activity). back to the top Michael Dare and Tracy Barill ( authors of the MCE Handbook) have offered over 70 workshops in Managing Cardiac Emergencies for the past few years. This course is offered exclusively by Global Medical Services. Participants receive the Managing Cardiac Emergency Handbook for pre-reading. This workshop focuses on the skills necessary to respond to cardiac emergencies (i.e cardiac arrest, unstable tachycardias, unstable bradycardias and acute coronary syndromes). Hands-on small group exercises and interactive presentations help reinforce the content. back to the top Standard First Aid (SFA) and CPR courses prepare you to respond competently to health emergencies. The courses involve hand-on practice sessions. Possible courses include Standard First Aid (2 day), Standard First Aid Recertification (1 day), CPR (1 day), and CPR Recertification (2-4 hours).
